Manchester United striker Anthony Martial has confirmed he will leave the club after nine-years at the club. The 28-year-old joins compatriot Rafael Varane in leaving Old Trafford.

Signed by the Man United manager Louis Van Gaal in 2016, the then fresh-faced teenager exploded on to the scene with a debut goal against Liverpool, putting him in a special place in the hearts of United fans.

Sadly for Martial, it didn’t get any better for him. There were glimpses of brilliance, but they were few and far between for a player who was the world’s most expensive teenager at the time.

It seems laughable to some, but infamously in Anthony Martial’s contract there was a clause written in there that if he won the Ballon D’or his club Monaco would get a bonus payment.

For both AS Monaco and Martial himself, this sadly never happened. The 28-year-old Frenchman spent above average time on the treatment table, which ultimately scuppered any chances of this move being deemed a success in the long-term,

On his day, Martial was one of the best-forwards in World Football, but not every day is ‘his day’. It’s not clear where Anthony Martial will play next, either way the team here at the-sports-buff.com wishes him all the best in his future endevurs .
