After a perceived difficult season for Arsenal, in certain parts of the season, on-loan goal keeper David Raya has won The Golden Glove award. The Golden Glove is awarded to the keeper who has kept the most clean sheets in the season.

Raya, who was signed from Brentford, in some quarters of the Arsenal fan base hasn’t been a popular signing. The fact that the 28-year-old has made some high-profile errors along the way only added to the pressure.

On top of that the ex-Bees stopper was replacing a popular player in Aaron Ramsdale, who performed admirably in The Gunners’ failed title pursuit last term.

Brought in to spice up competition between the sticks, David Raya has steadily improved in his performances. The Spaniard has been able to help Arsenal build out from the back, as he possesses the ball-playing abilities boss Mikel Arteta expects from his goalie.

Raya has kept 14 clean sheets in 29 games. The nearest challenger to David Raya is Everton’s Jordan Pickford who has 12. With The Toffees keeper conceding a goal against Luton on Friday, that means Arsenal’s David Raya can’t be overtaken in the race for The Golden Glove.
