Barcelona manager Xavi, who was set to resign at the end of the season, has spectacularly performed a U-turn to agree to stay at the club until at least the end of his contract in 2025. 

The former Barca captain, who has won all there was to win with the club as a player, had won the La Liga title in his time in charge at Camp Nou as manager. This year, however, The Catalans have been a distant second-best in the title race to champions-elect Real Madrid this season.

Just like Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp did before him, Xavi Hernandez coming out and saying he’s leaving the club mid-season was the wrong decision.

His Barcelona side seemed to be lacking that edge since his announcement. Arguably the same could be said of Liverpool manager Klopp. Now the football world will be thinking will the former Dortmund manager reverse his decision?

With news that The Reds are close to naming a successor shows that this is highly unlikely.
