Hello, good afternoon sports fans, I hope you’re well looking after yourselves and are in good health. I want to talk about an issue that’s important in the world of sports, football managers.

With the examples I want to use, I will be referring to the men who have been appointed to help improve a team’s performance and help them propel up that league table, but in reality, it’s been anything but propelling.

Think Birmingham City, think Bayern Munich. With the examples of both of these clubs, they fired managers who were doing a decent job in their role. Birmingham manager John Eustace was sixth in the Championship for the Blues before his disgraceful sacking.

Eustace’s replacement was of course Wayne Rooney and the harsh reality is that the former Manchester United striker struggled at St Andrews. If he was given more time maybe they could have got relegated, but in Birmingham’s case, they got Tony Mowbray to steady the ship.

The Bayern example is strikingly similar to the Birmingham one. Former Bayern boss Julian Nagelsmann was given his marching orders when he too was doing well with the team.

Former German champions Bayern were second in the table at the time of the former Hoffenheim boss’ sacking by one point. Hardly an unsurmountable lead at the top.

Nagelsmann’s replacement Tuchel did win the Bundesliga last season, but this year the drop-off has been dramatic. How much they regret their decision now, especially since Xabi Alonso is staying with Bayer Leverkusen.

As I was writing this, I was adamant there were more than two examples, but now I only see two, I can only think of two examples. Are there any other examples that be used in this scenario?
