Goals from Harry Kane and Thomas Muller were enough to help Bayern Bayern beat Lazio and book their place in this year’s Champions League Quarter-finals. It was hard to imagine that the six-time Champions League winners Bayern were in a bit of a rut.

Three defeats on the trot, which included a 1-0 loss at the Stadio Olimpico, meant that Bayern were looking at the possibility of not reaching the Quarter-final of the Champions League.

This result could have been different if Lazio were able to take advantage of Bayern Munich’s vulnerabilities at the start of the match. Credit to Thomas Tuchel and his side who produced a professional performance to achieve what was needed.

It was impressive that the German champions did overcome the banana skin, but surely more challenging opponents await in the latter rounds.
