Manchester United ended their two-year-long wait for an away win at a top-10 club with a 2-1 away win. The Red Devils who hadn’t been a side in the top nine for two years, away from home, were made to work for this win.

The much-criticised Andre Onana made some impressive saves to thwart Villa, who can count themselves very unlucky to lose to United at Villa Park. Arsenal and Manchester City both have lost in the Midland to Aston Villa this season, which puts this result into perspective.

Erik Ten Haag’s United side are just six points off the Champions League places. Although Villa manager Unai Emery will be encouraged by the performance, Aston Villa’s poor February and 2024 in general continues.

As for Manchester United, this is their fourth win in a row and encouragingly for their young striker Rasmus Hojlund, it’s his fifth goal in five games. Scott McTominay, who has been Manchester United’s top scorer this year, scored his second goal in two games.

A trip to Fulham awaits Aston Villa next week. As for Manchester United, they will be travelling to Kenilworth Road, where a Premier League game against Luton awaits.
