In a footballing world that includes Pep Guardiola, Jurgen Klopp, Thomas Tuchel and many more. Football fans get somewhat tunnel vision when it comes to the appreciation of other managers.

Sure Carlo Ancelotti gets some love and appreciation and so does Jose, but in the case of both of these men, they’re both largely disrespected. My own opinion is that some managers get unappreciated as others are overhyped.

One manager is Graham Potter, but that’s no fault of his own. The English media are a demanding bunch. They build people up quickly and knock them down even quicker than that.

In the case of the former Brighton manager Potter, no football club wants to appoint him apparently. When the former Swansea manager was at Brighton and Swansea for example, with the greatest respect, he was going to be appreciated, but just that bit more under the radar.

Graham Potter’s replacement Roberto De Zerbi has become another one, who in an understated way has excelled in his management role on the South Coast. If the Italian does get some well-deserved recognition and take over at Man City or Liverpool, let’s say, maybe the goodwill, will end.

If that does indeed happen, one man who we think should take over is Luton’s Rob Edwards. Some may question the logic of such a move, but why not? At Forest Green Rovers he was outstanding.

Rovers haven’t had a manager stay for longer than half a season since. Yes, the move to Watford was difficult, but sorry to say so, it’s a difficult club to manage. Luton Town weren’t deterred by his tough stint at Vicarage Road and appointed the Welshman as Hatters boss.

In his understated way, Edwards carried on the good work of his predecessor Nathan Jones. The former Wolves centre-back, would go one better than former Stoke manager Jones and get promoted to the Premier League, against all odds.

Luton in this last decade were in the National League and have seen a meteoric rise, which has been consolidated in the last two, maybe three seasons. The Championship has been something I have long argued is trickier than the Premier League.

So with The Hatters promoted, surely they would be the whipping boys of the league? Not really. A brilliant win at Everton’s Goodison Park and a thrilling 4-4 draw at Newcastle’s St James Park, showed these boys from Luton are no whipping boys.

Football world, please show them and Rob Edwards some, love they deserve it!
