Liverpool will join Chelsea in February’s Carabao Cup final, after they drew with Fulham 1-1 last night, which gave The Reds a 3-2 win on aggregate. Jurgen Klopp’s Premier League leaders were not at full strength as the German opted to field some of the youngsters.
Despite that, Liverpool were able to keep their Premier League rivals at bay. Luis Diaz was able to take advantage of some lapse in Bernd Leno’s goalkeeping, which gave the visitors Liverpool an early lead.
Marco Silva’s Fulham did have several good moments in the game and deservedly got back into the tie when Issa Diop bundled in Harry Wilson’s cross. One more goal for the home side and that would have seen this tie go to extra-time.
From the home side’s perspective, unfortunately, they weren’t able to find another goal. Yesterday’s draw on the night means that Liverpool are into a record 14th League Cup final.
In the final, they will face Chelsea, a repeat of the final two years ago.
