After losing the series, Pakistan were able to show some fight with the bat, as the tourists finished on 313 all out.
Shaan Masood’s side did well to even get that to that total. The Asian side had half of their side out, and the team total was less than 100.
At 96-5, that brought Mohammed Rizwan (82) and Salman Agha (53) to the crease. Agha was impressed while on this tour. This was the all-rounder’s second fifty in a row.
Both Salman and Rizwan attacked beautifully. So effective was their counterattack offensive the duo put on 95 for the sixth wicket, which was their team total when they were first at the crease together.
Bar Babar and Saim Ayub, the other batsmen’s dismissals were poor in the top order. Even the captain Masood played a very loose shot, despite being given a reprieve due to a Mitchell Starc no ball.
Both Mohammed Rizwan and Salman Agha would have been disappointed in the manner they were out, but to be fair to both, they put some value on their wicket.
Despite these two set batsmen being dismissed, Pakistan hadn’t finished their aggressive approach just yet.
Up step the very impressive Aamir Jamaal who has thoroughly impressed in this series with the ball. Jamaal did have a good cameo with the bat last time out and went better here.
The bowling all-rounder would hit 82 runs, and 82 runs which frustrated the home side. Travis Head and Marnus Labushagne were summoned to bowl a few overs, but that turned out to be to no avail.
Despite getting some hefty treatment from Pakistan’s low-order, who swept him and attacked him beautifully, Nathan Lyon would be the man to end the 86-run 10th-wicket partnership.
It was a shame when it ended as Aamir Jamaal, who was fending off short bowling initially, then grew in his innings and played some sublime shots.
