Hello, good evening sports fans, I hope you’re well, looking after yourselves and are in good health. Sports fans, I want to talk about an important issue in the life of sports.
Sports fans specifically I want to talk about football and the Premier League. Premier League champions Manchester City have won the league three times and four times in the last five seasons.
Yours truly, Ayyaz Malik aka The Sports Buff, argues that they can make it four Premier League title wins on the bounce.
This has never been done before, but, in my humble opinion, I don’t see this stopping Pep’s treble winners.
With no team ever going four title wins in a row, one can understand the scepticism against The Blues, but this is the same Man City side that became the first English side to win five trophies in a season.
The reason, why I make such a bold claim so early in the season, a season that has been having a lot of twists and turns, is because no one seems capable of moving out in front.
For the past few seasons, Man City have pulled away from the chasing pack, and have been relentless once they have been in the front.
This year, Manchester City are of course languishing some eight points behind league leaders Liverpool.
City have two games in hand though. The festive period is of course a time when teams drop points due to the congested fixture list.
Even before that, it feels like although it’s competitive, it’s not a good Premier League season, points-wise. Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are top as it stands with 42 points, at the halfway stage.
Liverpool have dropped 15 points at the midway point of the season. This seems like a staggering amount. Man City themselves before the Club World Cup had just one of their last six league games.
The thing is Man City usually have their annual blip and then go unbeaten for a prolonged run. Just like the great Manchester United sides of old.
