So, Manchester United fans, you will say this is the season to be jolly, or at least some of the Man U fans will be.
It’s Christmas time and they can celebrate it, with the knowledge that the Glazer family, will not be in charge of the footballing operations side of United.
On the face of it, this is great news, superb news, but there is a but, a big one. The Red Devils will be a bit hamstrung come the January transfer window.
Why? Well, that’s been due to the cavalier spending of the previous Man United regime. Spending nearly £100 million on a player you let go for free, to again let him go for free is financial suicide!
It’s not the first time they have spent close to this amount for a player. Anthony, so far has failed to live up to his expectations and Romelu Lukaku was sold too.
Ex-skipper Harry Maguire, who seemed surplus to requirements not too long ago has appeared to resurrected his Man United career.
Long story short, the regime of the past, has stopped the regime of current to open the chequebook.
Financial Fair Play is a real thing and United have been fined due to FFP before, so they won’t want another fine.
Also, it must be stated that recruitment has been poor, so the new owners of the football operations will be reluctant to go buy players from the high end of the market.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe owns Nice of course, and they tend to buy players from the lower to middle end of the market.
OS Nice, buy players who could attract a good markup later if they were to be sold. Under Sir Alex, The Red Devils did this with Ronaldo for example, so it’s not an alien concept.
Manchester United fans, your club was notorious for promoting within. With the current crop of youngsters, they can bring a couple through.
Since being in the first team picture, Kobee Mainoo has made the DM position his own, His positional awareness and calmness on the ball, are above and beyond his tender years.
Also United fans, I find it mind-boggling that Rashford, Anthony and Garnacho keep getting minutes when it’s clear all three of them have been poor this term.
Facundo Pellestri doesn’t play tennis the last time I checked. Give the boy a chance, he can’t do any worse than the other United wingers this season.
January notoriously has been a tricky market to do business in, but Man United need to take stock and pray for some good luck with their injury list.
First impressions are everything. I am sure United’s new part-owners will want to hit the ground running, but not hit it that hard that it breaks ground, that didn’t need breaking in the first place.
