The Magpies got off to a dream start when influential midfielder Joelinton opened the scoring with a sublime strike.

After being heavily beaten in their last two games, it looked like Eddie Howe’s men had steadied the tide and were going to grind out the win needed to progress to the next stage.

Seven-time winners, who were semi-finalists last season had other ideas and would break Newcastle’s hearts through Pulisic who would level for the visitors then lead through Samuel Chukwaze.

A tough pill to take for Eddie Howe’s men, but this will make them stronger moving forward that’s for sure.

The draw for the Champions League round of 16 is on Monday.
