Former Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder has been appointed as manager of The Blades, replacing Paul Heckingbottom.
The former Northampton and Middlesborough boss was first in charge of his boyhood club in 2016.
During his first tenure at Bramall Lane, Wilder led his beloved Sheffield United to two promotions in three seasons.
It would be in his first season as a Premier League manager that Wilder would win plaudits. Wins against Chelsea and Arsenal, all by playing football in the way of a purist’s dream.
Sheffield United fans were in dreamland, dreaming of even reaching the dizzy heights of European football.
The South Yorkshire side would finish ninth and win the applause of many. Like other clubs before them, sadly Sheffield United were victims of the dreaded second season.
Bedazzling in his first season, Sheffield couldn’t reach such dizzy heights again and Wilder’s Sheffield United ultimately went down.
Towards the end of his first spell, the inevitable split didn’t quite happen mutually.
As lovely as the past was to reminisce about, Sheffield United and their fan base will surely want to look forward and move up the table.
