If you are like us at the Sports Desk then you will be yearning for the return of club football.
International football games can be good, but over time seeing Ronaldo score four against Luxembourg for example loses its charm.
So with that in mind here at The Sports Buff, we thought we wanted to assess just who are some of the overachievers and underachievers in the current Premier League season.
Under Achieved
This accolade, if you can call it that, deserves to in my humble opinion be awarded to Manchester United (no surprise) but Burnley too.
Because The Clarets have been promoted this season, such an assessment is harsh.
But the way Vincent Kompany’s men won The Championship at a canter last season, every thing they will do a Sheffield United.
I am sure everyone at Burnley wouldn’t mind not doing a Sheffield United, as long as they stayed in the Premier League.
Well as for Manchester United, it’s self-explanatory, right? The Red Devils, who have spent another £200 million this summer are languishing in sixth.
It could be worse for Ten Haag’s men, but four wins from five has put them in the top six mix.
Luton and Sheffield United were expected to be near the bottom three, so I would say they’re meeting expectations.
If any other clubs come to mind, I would love to hear from you.
Overachievers
Few names come into mind for this. Aston Villa who are in the top five and Brighton at one stage came to mind too.
With The Seagulls, however, their form has tailed off. Roberto Di Zerbi’s men are mirroring West Ham, who also have fallen off after an impressive start to the season.
Tottenham who were top just a couple of weeks, before two costly defeats have started the season well.
Arsenal and Manchester City who are in the top two, are expected to be in those positions come the end of the season right?
Amid sides doing well, you have sides like Everton who are doing ok, not terrible but not brilliant as far as League standing goes.
The way the Premier League is now, I am almost certain it won’t be like that come the end of the season.
Manchester City will still win the Premier League as I am not convinced with Arsenal’s signings. Those are my thoughts, what are yours?
Would love to hear you in the comments.
