Premier League side Everton have been rocked by the news that they will
be facing a 10-point deduction due to profit and sustainability rules.
Everton posted financial losses for the fifth successive year in March after reporting a £44.7m deficit in 2021-22.

Premier League clubs are permitted to lose £105m over three years and Everton admitted to being in breach of the profit and sustainability rules (PSR) for the period ending 2021-22.

After a hearing, which lasted five days, the commission overseeing this case found in favour of the Premier League that The Toffees losses during that period amounted to £124.5m.

As a result of this punishment, which is the biggest in Premier League history, will be appealed by Everton.

The Toffees are now in the bottom three after this point deduction, two points behind Luton.

Sean Dyche’s side have gone on something of an upturn in form, but this is news they could have done without.
