Serie A champions Napoli who have had a difficult campaign, have acted by sacking head coach Rudi Garcia. Garcia, who has also spent time as manager of Roma, sadly struggled in his time in Naples.
What didn’t help matters was star centre-back Kim Min-Jae being sold, but on top of the former Georgian winger, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has taken a nosedive this term.
The 22-year-old was able to produce a very good understanding with The Little Donkeys striker Victor Osimehn.
But Osimehn too is another player, who just doesn’t seem quite at it this season, the way he was last season. Six is not the worst goal tally at this point, but Inter’s Laturo dwarfs that with 12.
With the appointment of a club legend, someone who knows the club, maybe Napoli can dream again of title glory.
This might also help their star man get back to the elite heights of last season.
Walter Mazzari knows a thing or two about working with elite strikers, it was he who helped Edison Cavani make a name for himself.
Last season’s title win was just their third title win in their history, so expectations should be lowered, but try telling eccentric owner Aurelio Di Laurentis that.
