The football world has been shocked by the news that former Lille, Chelsea and Real Madrid forward Edin Hazard is to retire from football.

At 32-years old, football is wondering if only. If only the Belgian was able to stay injury-free, or maybe if only he stayed at Chelsea longer.

Sometimes in life, it’s not always fairy tales. Hazard, who was a tricky winger and a very potent goal threat, was seen as some as a maverick, but a football genius by all.

What seemed like it required effort for some, came effortless to Edin Hazard. The former Lille man will always be a hero at Chelsea, but a disappointment at Real.

Injuries are the reason for that, but even still it was sad to see once a great player, arguably one of Belgium’s best players in this era, end his career in such fashion.

The team here at The Sports Buff, hope that however he chooses to spend retirement, he does that with a smile on his face.
