The similarities are uncanny, beyond being just a coincidence. Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappe have some similarities.
Both are captains of their national sides and both are key players for their club sides. It should also be noted that both men are record-goal scorers for their clubs.
Kane is Tottenham’s record goal scorer and Mbappe is PSG’s. French striker Kylian Mbappe, as is widely reported doesn’t get on with his fellow attacker Neymar, but the same can’t be said of England’s captain.
England captain Harry Kane is seen as a model professional unless Manchester City come calling and no one from his club answered their call.
In terms of how he is with his teammates, it’s understood within the game, Harry Kane is a fitting example of how to be with a teammate.
The main similarity, and the reason which prompted me to write this was that both Kane and Kylian Mbappe, have had all sorts of issues in leaving their respective clubs.
Of course, Harry Kane eventually broke free, arguably staying three years longer than he wanted to.
With Mbappe, it’s roughly a similar story. The French captain wanted to leave for Real, so he publicly dug his heels in, but still ended up staying in the French capital.
That’s not been through choice, which has felt similar to Harry Kane. He like former Monaco striker Mbappe signed a new deal, which prolonged both of their misery in this saga.
Neither could leave, so what else could they do?
The only way Kane was able to get his move was when Tottenham were able to get the ultimate premium for him.
Spurs got a transfer fee in the region of £100 million, for a 30-year-old guy. A player like Randal Kolo Muani would have been a better fit for such a price, we think.
Now Kylian Mbappe needs to work out how to get out of PSG. Lionel Messi has managed and even Neymar too, but arguably both were done to please the France captain.
PSG are coming across as a psychotic lover, who doesn’t want to see their lover (Mbappe) leave them. They have tried sweet talking, angry speech and even guilt-tripping.
Despite all of that, the man still wants to leave! Nasser Al-Khilaifi, let the man be free. He deserves it.
