England fast bowler Stuart Broad has announced that he will be retiring from cricket after The Ashes. The 37-year-old who started his career at Leicester, moved to Notts, his place of Birth.
Blessed with height and a good physical presence, Broad Junior, initially tried his hand at hockey. How the cricketing world is glad he took the path he did.
In a test career that spanned over 165 matches, it all started for Stuart Broad on 9th December against Sri Lanka, all the way back in 2007.
Sadly for England fans, Broad’s career is going to end within a couple of days, how they would want his career to end with a test win.
In a 165 test career, Stuart Broad scored 3640 runs (and counting) and has taken 600 wickets (and counting).
Having retired from ODI cricket after a decade-long career in the limited-over format, the 6ft5 pacer has on occasion done some punditry work for Sky Sports.
Is that what the Nottinghamshire man will be doing away from playing?
Only Stuart Broad can answer that. What we can say though is that the most successful partnership in test cricket (Stuart Broad and James Anderson), is no more.
Cricket will miss you, Stuart, we wish you all the best in your future endeavours.
