Before you make some prejudgments, sports fans, hear me out. Premier League side Aston Villa, are making an early claim for holding the unofficial trophy of winning the transfer window.

Such a title or honour doesn’t always mean too much, just look at Tottenham last year.

Their North London rivals Arsenal, are trying to challenge The Villains for the title with some impressive signings of their own.

But Unai Emery’s Villa look to be doing some serious business indeed. After signing Pau Torres nearly enough unopposed, Aston Villa have secured the signing of Bayer Leverkusen winger Mousa Diaby for £50 million .

Leverkusen winger Diaby has been outstanding since arriving in Germany. Mousa Diaby has all the traits needed of a wide player, he’s fast direct and has superb game awareness.

The deal , which signals some impressive work by the new director of football Monchi.

To be honest, I am not sure what his official title is, but one can only make an educated assumption such impressive dealings in part are down to the former Sevilla director of football.

Diaby was linked with Newcastle and seen as a long-term target for The Magpies, but they appear more interested in signing Harvey Barnes from relegated Leicester City.

Villa fans, I wish my word had some meaning, because last year I was vocally very critical of Manchester City’s dealing in the transfer market, but they only went on to make history and win the treble.

I know right? Only the treble, what a terrible team Manchester City are.
