Chelsea defender Ethan Ampadu has signed for Leeds for a reported fee of £7 million + adds, on a four-year deal.
Wales international Ampadu who can play across the backline and even midfield has been on loan in Italy with Venezia and RB Leipzig in Germany, over his Chelsea career.
Due to the way Chelsea have poorly carried out their transfer dealings, selling Ampadu although shocking, it’s not all that surprising.
The 22-year-old who was signed in 2017 from Exeter in 2017 has sadly changed into a Josh MacEachern 2.0. MacEachern was a player who many thought would get into the Chelsea first team.
Unfortunately for him, he now ply his trade in the lower leagues after a series of loan moves. The 30-year-old MacEachern plays for Oxford United.
In the case of Ethan Ampadu, he is still playing for a team that has Premier League ambition.
From a side who were European champions a few seasons ago to a team in England’s second tier might be a culture shock.
