Spanish youngster Carlos Alcaraz wins Wimbledon for the first time against Novak Djokovic in five sets. Alcaraz would win this epic match, 1-6, 7-6,6-1,3,6, 6-4.
The match between the world’s top two players was breathtaking and lived up to its billing. It was very much a case of master vs student, but the quality was there however you saw the game.
Alcaraz when facing the seven-time Wimbledon champion previously, he has was hampered by injury and would bravely lose in four sets.
Yesterday on Sunday 16th July, the young Spaniard was a man determined to get his hands on his second Grand Slam.
When the 23-time Grand Slam champion levelled the match at two sets all, many (including me) thought Novak is going to win his eighth title.
Write off Carlos Alcaraz at your peril. The Spaniard was able to complete a Queen’s and Wimbledon double. If you hadn’t heard of the name, you have now.
World number one Carlos Alcaraz is the first player since Andy Murray in the 2013 Wimbledon final to beat Novak Djokovic on centre court.
