Former Ajax, juventus, Fulham and Manchester United keeper Edwin Van Der Sar is in intensive car after suffering bleeding to his brain.

The former Man United and Holland number was currently out of work after resigning from his post as chief executive at Dutch giants Ajax.

Van Der Sar who was on holiday in Croatia, is currently being held in a Croatian hospital. The 52-year-old is in a stable condition.

Annemarie, Edwin Van Der Sar’s wife, suffered a brain hemorrhage in 2008 and went on to make a full recovery.

Legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson also made a full recovery when he had suffered a brain hemorrhage in 2008.

This is desperately sad news. Not just for the Van Der Sar family, but the football world.
