Leicester City, Swansea City and now Brighton. Football clubs that get admiration for being well-run. In the case of The Foxes and The Swans, both have been relegated to the Championship, so with the greatest respect aren’t the best examples of being well-run.

Brighton and Hove Albion on the other hand, at the moment they’re going from strength to strength. Two ways of being a big club. One is buying a player for the price you want and also buying them before anyone else.

For example, Brighton have signed Mahmoud Dahoud from Borussia Dortmund for a free transfer. The club wanted a player, they signed a player for a good price sometimes it’s not really that difficult.

Joao Pedro, the highly rated Watford forward has become their record signing in a £35 million deal. Even this deal, it was done in such a decisive manner. James Milner’s transfer was also concluded swiftly too.

At the start of the summer, manager Roberto DeZerbi said both Moises Caicedo and Alexis McAllister will be sold. To Brighton’s credit, the Argentine has been sold.

Although Ecuadorian Caicedo hasn’t been sold just yet, one thing is for certain the club will get a top buck for him. Again, this is the actions of a big club. With respect, The Seagulls, they don’t have the financial might of clubs such as Manchester United and Chelsea.

But in the case of West London club Chelsea, they have poached their players. Marc Cucurella, Graham Potter and it seems almost certainly Moises Caicedo.

Having money might have meant you were a big club once upon a time, but it’s the way you spend the money. Sell players for the right price at the right time and look to make a profit.

Buy players for the right price, at the right time (good time), with the aim to make a profit in the future. Brighton have done this process and repeated it so many times, to perfection.

Bravo Brighton, bravo!
