Former Manchester City and Wolfsburg striker Edin Dzeko has signed for Turkish side Fenerbahce on a two-year deal. The Bosnian who won the Premier League with City, leaves latest club Inter after two seasons with the Milan giants.
During his time at the San Siro Dzeko scored 22 goals in 69 appearances. Fener sign the experienced former Roma striker in an attempt to better last season’s second-place finish in the Turkish Super Lig.
When players are leaving mainland Europe for going to the Saudi League or in the case of Lionel Messi the MLS, it’s a bit of a surprise to see Edin Dzeko wind up in Turkey, but with the case of the 28-time domestic title winners, they do have plenty of history and footballing heritage.
When his contract expires with the Istanbul-based side, Edin Dzeko will be 39, which arguably will mean that Fenerbahce will be Dzeko’s last club. If this is the case, Edin we wish you all the best here at The Sports Buff and happy retirement!
