Mumbai progress

Five-time IPL winners The Mumbai Indians are through to eliminator two to face Gujarat Titans, after beating Lucknow Supergiants by 83 runs.
Rohit Sharma’s side joins four-time winners Chennai Super Kings and defending champions Gujarat Titans, who they play next in the latter stages.

MS Dhoni’s side awaits the winners of Friday’s crunch game between MI and GT in Sunday’s final. For CSK, they’re in the 10th final and will be looking to improve on their record in finals which reads four wins and five losses (many of those were against Sharma’s Mumbai side).

As tantalising a prospect as it could be to see the two most successful sides in the history of the tournament go at it, Mumbai will be foolish to write off a Gujarat side who won the IPL in their debut season and will be wounded after their loss to Chennai in the first qualifier.

The Titans, are a very dangerous side and have an in-form Shubman Gill in their side as well as dangerous spinner Rashid Khan, so only a fool will take them lightly.

But Mumbai with Cameron Green, they have an explosive all-rounder. In Green, just maybe they have a player who can be destructive enough to take a game away from the opposition.

On several occasions this term all-rounder Green has shown his natural ability, Cameron Green blasted a century for The Indians when batting at number three.

That ton, which came off just 47 balls, came in the game which helped Mumbai Indians pip RCB to the last qualifying spot.

Having got to this stage is impressive for the five-time winners who have been looking for their best side is a good achievement, but it will be a tall order to join Chennai Super Kings in the final.

The second eliminator between Gujarat and Mumbai will be on Friday.
