Celtic are champions

Glasgow Celtic are champions of Scotland again after a 2-0 win against Hearts at Tynecastle. It was only a matter of when rather than if as The Hoops won the title realistically in January time when they opened up a nine-point lead at the top of the table.

Of course, Celtic head coach Ange Postecoglou will get a lot of the credit and rightly so, but there have been many key players for Celtic. Kyogo Furuhashi who has 30 goals for the season and even Portuguese wide player Jota, who provided many moments of magic during the season.

The football world will always look at the impact that attacking players make on the pitch, but rarely do they look at the other side of the pitch, the defence the goalkeeper.

Here though ladies and gents, we want to mention Joe Hart, the former Manchester City goalkeeper who has won titles in his native England with City.

During Hart’s time at Tottenham, he was ruthlessly cast aside by then manager Nuno Espirito Santo, which we can see was a bad decision. Joe Hart’s leadership has helped this Celtic side in games, none so much more than yesterday in their game against Hearts.

That result was harsh on Hearts, but Celtic did what they have done superbly all season, found ways to win winning appears to be tough.

The Bhoys have been superb this year, with the results they have got and the way they have gone about getting those results, in the right way by playing the right way, or at least from a neutral fan’s view.

When the Australian coach joined, he joined with little or no fanfare, but how we have all been proven wrong. Since Postecoglou has been in charge at Celtic Park he has won four out of the five trophies available.

It can get can be better for the Glasgow side if they win the Scottish Cup final against Inverness Caledonian Thistle. If they win that will mean that Celtic would have won the domestic treble in five of the last seven seasons.

Ange Postecoglou’s success will keep seeing him linked to the top jobs in England. Celtic’s latest title means they have won 53 domestic titles in their history, only Rangers (55) have more.

Talking of which Rangers, watch out, there’s a side from the other side of the city coming to take your record.
