Burnley have been promoted to the Premier League after a 12 months absence. The Clarets who dispersed of the services of long-serving manager Sean Dyche were not able to survive relegation under the guidance of caretaker boss Simon Jackson after a nearly 10-year stay in the Premier League.

To the surprise of many, the East Lancashire side appointed Manchester legend Vincent Kompany as their new boss. A surprising choice considering how underwhelming his spell was with Anderlecht in his native Belgium.

Not to be deterred by the arm-chair critics the 36-year-old Kompany impressively went about his work. Some Manchester loan signings did help, but the signing of Nathan Tella, their top scorer was some fantastic bit of business.

Burnley started their campaign in the second tier slowly. The sceptics at this point, no doubt were finding their voice. To his credit, former Manchester City Vincent Kompany was not deterred and never wavered from his philosophy.

Eventually, the results started to come. Currently, Kompany’s side are enjoying a 19-game unbeaten run. The last team to beat The Clarets was Sheffield United in November, who thrashed their promotion rivals 5-2 at Bramall Lane.

After promotion was confirmed, Paul Heckingbottom’s side are the only team who can stop from going all the way to winning the championship. Congratulations to Vincent Kompany and his coaching staff, for a very thoroughly deserved promotion.

The only questions that remain are this, will he still be at the club next season? Also, we’re curious to see who will join Burnley in the Premier League. We think Sheffield United and Middlesbrough.
