He’s out on his own; Kane breaks England record

It was a question of when and not if. Last night in their opening World Cup qualifier against Italy Harry Edward Kane, the England captain and Tottenham Hotspur record goalscorer has now overtaken former captain Wayne Rooney as the leading scorer for The Three Lions.

Kane, who has managed to achieve many impressive records in his time, just might have suffered stage fright in his pursuit. Regardless the 29-year-old Kane broke the record having played some 40 games less.

It should be noted that previous record holder Wayne Rooney played a lot of his games for England out of position, but for Harry Kane to score 54 goals in 81 games is better than one goal every two games. Simply put that’s an outstanding goal return.

Kane scored a penalty against Italy in Naples, which helped England not just win the game, but get their European qualifying campaign off to a great start, as they won against The Azzuri 2-1.

Defeat for Italy saw their 40-game unbeaten run come to an end. When Wayne Rooney broke Sir Bobby Charlton’s goal-scoring record, we thought Harry Kane would eventually break the record.

Kane impressively has broken the England goal-scoring record in a very quick time. At just 29 years old Tottenham striker has a lot of time on his hands. I don’t want to call it too soon, but if he stays injury free, there’s a good chance he will get 100 goals for England.

If Kane does indeed achieve such a feat, just note you read it here first.
