That was quick

Hello, good morning sports fans, I hope you’re well, looking after yourselves and are in good health. We need to talk about an important issue in the way of sports and that is football, to put it simply, Crystal Palace.

The Eagles who have become an established Premier League side again, have sacked Patrick Vieira and replaced him with former manager Roy Hodgson. This appointment is wrong on so many levels.

One of the reasons has nothing to do with the 75-year-old’s ability to manage a football team. Roy has taken Fulham to a European final and he has won titles in Scandinavia, so it’s fair to say he has the know-how.

Vieira, before his sacking, was on a winless run, but for the Crystal Palace hierarchy to pull the trigger, has left a bad taste in the mouth of many, ours included.

Stats of twelve games without a win is hard to defend in the modern era due to managers apparently being on borrowed time if they don’t win in three games let’s say.

Former Nice manager Patrick Vieira, since replacing Roy Hodgson, helped Palace develop into an exciting team, a team easy to watch on the eye. Some excellent signings helped the former Arsenal midfielder develop his team, but now the evolution and revolution at Selhurst Park have stalled.

With the reappointment of former manager Hodgson, the Crystal Palace hierarchy have gone to safety-first mode. Chairmen Steve Parish has done the equivalent of hiring Sam Allardyce.

We never thought they were in the relegation dogfight to start with, but with Roy Hodgson, results will come but will be substance over style.

Some Eagles fans might want that, but I feel this is the problem with the modern game, no loyalty.

Club owners and chairman would call out their managers if it was the other way round, meaning if they win 12 in a row, bigger clubs come calling. If the manager of said club leaves, he’s not loyal, he’s the worst person alive for wanting to test himself.

If the manager doesn’t win for 12 games in a row, then it’s fair game? The results weren’t good he needed to go, Really? I don’t like it, but this is modern football. There are some things we will love about it and some we will hate.
