So now can he get some time?

Goals from Raheem Sterling and a Kai Havertz penalty helped Chelsea to a 2-0 second-leg win over Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday night. Coming into the game Dortmund were on a 10-game winning streak and Chelsea grounded out a 1-0 win over Leeds to stop their recent losing sequence.

Needless to say, going into the game, both teams going into the game, were in contrasting form. The Blues put their recent struggles behind them and were able to produce an encouraging performance.

There was some luck, Havertz’s retaken penalty after his first effort crashed the post is one example, but Chelsea, Potter’s Chelsea have won two games in a row for the first time since his arrival.

Some of the dark clouds, have been lifted over Stamford Bridge, not all of them, but some. Critics pointed to the fact that Graham Potter was almost too nice, he didn’t have the passion that a Chelsea boss should have. On Tuesday all those myths were dispelled.

Some Chelsea fans have been calling for the head of their manager, whereas we have always said he needs time. These last two results although encouraging, are just a start for Potter’s side as there is so much work to do.

One big difference to this Chelsea side that I have noticed is there is no Mikhaylo Mudryk, the £80 million winger signed from Shakhtar. Many of my much more esteemed fellow writers say the same thing as I do .. this doesn’t appear to be a Potter signing.

Fair play to Graham Potter for not playing him, if that is the case and if he’s not justifying his starting place. Out wide Chelsea have been playing Ben Chilwell and Reece James, which has arguably allowed former Brighton player Marc Cucurella to blossom.

All in all a good night for Chelsea’s head coach, but there’s a long way to go. When things are going well, fans should celebrate that, but when things aren’t they need to back the manager.

It’s not Graham Potter who chose to sign all of those players, it appears it was Todd Boehly. So with that in mind, give Potter some time!
