Chelsea manager Graham Potter could be the next manager on the chopping block. Quite a dramatic statement, even we admit this, but Chelsea’s losing sequence and the fact that they have won just once in now nine games is a concern.
Former Brighton boss Potter was appointed earlier in the season and came with a very big reputation. The former Southampton left-back earned plenty of plaudits due to how former sides Swansea, Brighton and Ostersunds played football.
What also earned Graham Potter admiration was how he conducts himself, whether that be in a press conference or on the touchline, Potter is a gentleman exemplified.
The challenge at Chelsea for the former Brighton boss is no doubt one of the biggest of his career. When the news broke that Graham Potter would be the new manager of Chelsea, myself and fellow summarizer at the-sports-buff.com Andrew Rhodes, were both sceptical.
Not because we didn’t think Potter would be able to wave his magic wand, but merely because we felt it was a job destined for failure. With Chelsea being in new ownership, some felt there would be a change in mentality regarding how they operate, but no, they’re still as impatient.
Popular former manager Thomas Tuchel should never have been sacked, but it would be even worse if the hierarchy gets rid of Graham Potter now. Patience is a virtue and it’s beautiful too.
The Blues have a crippled injury list. Of course, the headline will read 4-0 to Manchester City last night, but Chelsea fielded a lot of their youngsters. Chelsea need a quality target man as Pierre Emerick Aubameyang hasn’t worked. Todd, please give the man time!
