North Ireland’s Mark Allen, produced yet another stirring comeback to this time beat former world number and three-time UK Championship Ding Junghui 10-7 in the UK Championship final.
It was a pulsating game of snooker, where Mark Allen was at his battling best.
The 2018 Masters champion, who started the second session 6-2 behind, was able to quite simply relax and claw back the lead that Ding had built up in the first session.
What was a 6-2 lead, had since disappeared as the final went to 6-6, and things were all square. A shell-shocked Ding, was able to recompose himself in frame 15 and hit a sparkling 105, but that’s as good as it got for the Chinese legend.
Breaks of 79, 60, 93, 132, 56, 59 and 109 saw Allen win seven frames on the bounce. The Northern Irishman was able to again draw upon the mental strength he demonstrated in beating Jack Lisowski 6-5 in the semi-final.
Ding, the one on the receiving end of this Allen master class, looks to be back to his best after a difficult few seasons, he will no doubt be back in the top 16 soon.
As for UK Championship winner Allen who lost five stone in four years, continues his upturn in form after the Belfast man also won the Northern Ireland Open.
Next up in the snooker calendar is the Scottish open which will be held from 28th November- 4th December.
