Rangers the miracle men

PSV Eindhoven 0-1 Rangers was the score, which could be seen all round the stadium in the Phillips stadium in Eindhoven, a result which meant that Glasgow Rangers are in the Champions League!

It’s a team from the Eredivisie, which cynics of the standard of the Dutch league will say is, it’s the mickey mouse league. Many a legend that has gone to the Premier League have had time in the Netherlands Messrs Van Nistelrooy, and Van Persie to name many.

Talking of the former (Ruud Van Nistelrooy), he is the manager of PSV these days and does have a talented squad at his disposal, including Manchester United target Coady Gakpo.

So despite, what many may think, Rangers had a tough to qualify, especially after the first leg at Ibrox finished 2-2. That, and the fact that star striker Alfredo Morelos, was not available after not being included in the travelling party.

A very bold call, considering the outstanding goal-scoring record the Columbian has in Europe. But in Antonio Colak, Rangers fans, why the worry? It would be the 28-year-old former Malmo man (who knocked out his current employers last year), helping them get to the Champions League group stages, by scoring the only goal on the night, a six-yard tap-in.

The goal was their just rewards, as the Scottish giants who bravely got to the Europa League final last term, showed similar heart and character to progress.

As for PSV, winners in 1988, they will have to do it in the Europa League, after getting to the Conference League quarter-final last term.

After a 10-year absence, Glasgow Rangers, just have Liverpool (six-time Champions League winners), Napoli and Dutch champions Ajax to compete within group A, what a nice welcome back to Champions League football, sarcasm overload.
Hey, at least they didn’t get Viktoria Plzen’s draw. The full draw is here;
