Hello, good afternoon sports fans, it’s me Ayyaz Malik aka The Sports Buff. I hope you’re well, looking after yourselves and are in good health. Sports fans let’s talk about football.
What I want to talk about in particular is the world of football transfers. FC Barcelona have featured heavily on the-sports-buff.com of late, as I am sure it has on many other sports websites.
The Catalans have been attracting attention for all the wrong reasons, but why they feature here is the unorthodox triangle they have with Manchester City and Chelsea.
Barca, this year in particular have been beating Chelsea to the signing of certain players. Arguably Robert Lewandoski was one, but Raphinha and Jules Kounde were most certainly the others.
The Blues did beat Barcelona to the signing of Kalidou Koulibally and the signing of Barca graduate Marc Cucurella too, but one team who I don’t think has been able to get the better of Chelsea is Premier League champions Manchester City.
Not one, not two but three players have gone to Stamford Bridge instead of the Etihad. Jorginho, Cucurella and of course Koulibally. For all the Premier League titles The Citizens have, one achievement they have not been able to achieve is getting the better of Chelsea.
You will not get a trophy Man City if you do beat The Blues to a player, just like you don’t get a cup for winning pre-season matches. Look away now Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur fans.
So, I guess this is a piece to cheer up Chelsea fans, who would have been sick to see that their club keep losing out to Chelsea when it comes to signing new players.
