Fulham, put a Mit on Liverpool

A brave and dogged performance saw Premier League new boys Fulham lead twice against Liverpool, but ultimately draw 2-2 in the first game of the new Premier League season.

Much has been made of visitors Liverpool front line, and upon early assessment, those concerns seemed valid. The Reds may have been sluggish and lethargic, but full credit to The Cottagers, Fulham.

Marco Silva’s side and the form of star-striker Alexander Mitrovic will be key to Premier League survival. In the Championship Serbian Mitrovic was sensational, contrary to popular opinion that he’s too good for the Championship and not good for the Premier League.

Last time Fulham were in the League the former Newcastle and Anderlecht forward scored three goals all season. Mitrovic has gone some way to bettering that, which he did in one game!

Physical and strong, even the Roll’s Royce defender Van Dijk struggled with Fulham’s energy. Maybe the Roll’s had some engine problems. What will be easy to do, is to jump on the bandwagon and say Liverpool will struggle this year.

I agree that The Reds could do with more in midfield but Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott haven’t gone to work in the canteen! Liverpool do have new signing Darwin Nunez to call upon, who clearly looks like he will bolster an already superb forward line.

Contrary to popular belief that he is past his sell by date, Roberto Firminho is a good player to have in your squad, even if the first-choice front line will be Salah, Diaz and Nunez.

This was the first game of the season and West Ham, who gave champions Manchester City a real scare last year, will be arguably even better this year as they have strengthened well.

The Cityzens despite their summer signings seem weaker, so Liverpool fans don’t need to worry about one result in a very long Premier League season. Football fans, just enjoy the fact that the Premier League is back after what seems like so long.

Again, although one result Fulham if you perform anything like you did yesterday, you won’t be going down to the Championship, which has been your pattern of this last decade.
