Hello, good evening, ladies and gents. I have a question: what do we think of Tottenham? As the famous chant goes, led by former Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere, the answer is s*it.

Sorry Spurs fans, Jack the lad isn’t too far off the mark, I am afraid; the start of the season has been terrible. Five goals conceded, and zero scored. That reading is even grimmer when you put it in perspective: The Lillywhites signed two centre-backs. They signed Marcos Senesi from Bournemouth and Jan Paul Van Hecke from Brighton.

That would be ok if they hadn’t got rid of Christian Romero, their captain. This decision looks a doomed one. There’s no leadership in their back line, or anywhere else across the pitch.

As per the respected journalist David Ornstein and now others, Everton wideman Illiman Ndiaye is set to join Tottenham with Richarlison returning to Everton. Let’s hope (for Spurs’ sake), Mr Skillyman, is Mr defenderman too.

It’s still very early in the season, but it’s still alarming for them to be that open. Hopefully this will serve as a wake-up call that despite spending £320 million, Tottenham’s summer spending isn’t, nor should it be, classified as done.

Let’s just hope Marmous stays injury-free for a good part of the season, but this isn’t an alien concept for the Lillywhites; once upon a time, they had Harry Kane on their books as well as Son Heung-Min, and look how that turned out.

Oh, those were the days, Spurs fans, those were the days!
