Former Premier League champions Manchester City have agreed a fee with French club Lille for the signing of Moroccan teenage sensation Ayoub Bouadi. Bouadi,18, was brilliant in the Atlas Lions’ run to the quarter-finals in the recently concluded World Cup. The young Moroccan was impressive in the game against Brazil, among other games.
Seen as the heir to the Rodri throne, Bouadi has elements of his own game, which appealed to the City hierarchy. Ayoub Bouadi is a deep-lying conductor by trade, arguably, but the 18-year-old can play as an eight or further up the pitch as a 10.
With Egyptian attacker Omar Marmoush in the final stages of completing his move to Tottenham, this could be some shrewd business. The £86 million price tag at 18 will be added pressure, but with a manager who was formerly a midfielder himself, it can be argued he’s got the support needed to succeed in a big role at a big club.
People might appreciate that goal-scoring machine Erling Haaland came in to replace legend Sergio Aguero, but Ayoub Bouadi is in the same predicament. With Enzo Fernandez rumoured to be expected to join in the coming days, this has been a period of transformation for Man City’s midfield.
