Premier League champions Arsenal have agreed a £51 million deal for Aston Villa centre-back Ezri Konsa. Konsa, who played in the World Cup, is recognised as one of the best centre-halves in the league.
With William Saliba out for a longer period, to get a player of Konsa’s calibre is a coup indeed. Ezri Konsa, who signed from Brentford in 2019, has matured a lot in his seven seasons at the club.
At 28, Konsa’s best years are most certainly ahead of him, and with the fact that usual first-choice right-back Jurrien Timber is also set to spend an extended time on the sidelines, Ezri Konsa’s signing could solve more than one problem in The Gunners’ back line.
A very shrewd signing for sure. Maybe this could be the difference between a trophy at the end of the season and two.
