According to The Athletic, Liverpool have agreed a deal with former Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola to become their new manager. The Basque defender, who had been linked with Leeds in the past, is set to sign a two-year deal, according to their report.

Iraola will replace Arne Slot, who, despite winning the League in his first season, was sacked after just two seasons in charge. The news of this appointment will come as a blow to Crystal Palace.

The Eagles were reportedly in pole position to get Iraola in to replace the outgoing Oliver Glasner, but with Liverpool now swooping in, Palace’s managerial search will go on.

Personally, I would love them to go for Ruben Amorim. For all of the chaos at Old Trafford, I feel he was close to achieving something great. In terms of Liverpool, it appears that their board have gone for Iraola because his style of play is similar to Klopp’s.

That, we think, is true, but with the greatest respect, there is a massive difference between managing Bournemouth and managing Liverpool.
