A superb 75 from former Indian T20 international Virat Kohli helped RCB go back-to-back to become two-time defending IPL champions, after they beat Shubman Gill’s Gujarat Titans by five wickets.

Kohli’s fastest-ever fifty in the IPL allowed defending champions Royal Challengers Bangalore to defeat the Gujarat Titans by five wickets, with two overs to spare. In what was a match-up between the top two sides after the regular season, it would be The Titans who would bat first.

Disappointingly, they could only make 155-8, which never seemed enough. It could have been worse for the former IPL winners, but a crucial innings from Washington Sundar (50 off 37 balls)

In reply, Venkatesh Iyer (32 off 16 balls) and Virat Kohli (75 not out off 42 balls) helped the defending champions get their chase off to a very solid start.

When the former KKR man was dismissed, this opened up a slight opportunity, but Tim David (24 off 17 balls) accompanied Kohli to put on a crucial 41 for the fourth wicket and ultimately end the game as a contest.

The match did end when Kohli hit Arshad Khan for a six.
