FC Barcelona have wasted little time in making Newcastle forward Anthony Gordon their fast signing of the summer.
The Liverpool forward, formerly of Everton, joins The Catalans in a deal believed to be in the region of £69 million.
Gordon has agreed a deal until 2031. When news broke of talks between the two clubs, the football world had a general understanding that the completion of a deal was going to be a formality.
The Magpies were clearly keen to avoid an Alexander Isak transfer saga of last term.
Anthony Gordon had started the last few games of the season, so it’s fair to say Newcastle were preparing themselves for a transfer of their star-forward.
Now the task for Newcastle United’s scouting team is to find a Gordon replacement.
