A brace from Ollie Watkins meant that Man City manager Pep Guardiola lost his final game in charge of the club. In what was a very emotional atmosphere at the game and for everyone connected to the club, the match didn’t end on the note that City’s manager and their fans would have wanted.

This arguably means that some serious rebuilding is needed. Bernardo Silva and John Stones are two players who will certainly be leaving. Another player, although not 100% comfirmed, is Spanish midfielder Rodri.

The former Atletico player hasn’t come out and said he wants to move, but the fact is, he has only one year left on his current deal. A new contract can still be agreed, but with Enzo Maresca, the man tipped to take over, the feeling is that the former Manchester City boss will want to bring in some new faces.

Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez is believed to be one of them, but the former Benfica man won’t come cheap.

It’s natural that any new manager would want their own players, but given the rebuild the former four-time defending Premier League champions went through last term, maybe not as much surgery is needed on this team.

In what would be a double raid, Marc Cucurella could be another to join his Chelsea teammate and former manager. City, under Pep Guardiola, would have players who can fill certain roles.

A prime example that comes to mind is Fabien Delph, the former Aston Villa skipper who was a midfielder by trade, but filled in for Manchester City as a left-back.

When the Spaniard signed Rayan Ait-Nouri from Wolves, that appeared to be an admission that not even he can get a player to fill such a position if it’s not their natural position.

Goodbye, Pep, goodbye, you legend. You were the best manager of this era, who also had a humanitarian heart. The Premier League will miss a brave heart like you all.
