After the man himself confirmed he’s leaving Man City after 10 successful years, what’s not confirmed for sure is who will replace Pep Guardiola. Reports from several outlets appear to suggest Enzo Maresca will be the man given the keys to the Kingdom.
If this is indeed true, the such an appointment does make sense. Italian Maresca was talking to City earlier in the season, but it must also be noted that the former Juventus midfielder was an assistant coach with City and boss of the reserve team, where he won the Premier League Two title.
Enzo Maresca will know some of the players and plays in a similar way to Pep Guardiola; after all, part of his football education was with the great man.
Next season, it appears from the outside looking in that Manchester City will be in somewhat of a transitional phase, but arguably, this team, this squad would have improved even more and matured too.
Enzo Mareca’s appointment has a continuity element, and why not? If City have found a successful way of finding their manager, then so be it. In this unpredictable world, Man City tend to be very consistent.
