Ever since he signed for Manchester City, he’s been nothing short of superb. Ghanaian international Antoine Semenyo, formerly of Bristol City and most recently of Bournemouth, has been one of Man City’s best players since joining, and I would say even before that, he was one of the Premier League’s best players.

The stats won’t say this, but Semenyo wasn’t just scoring goals; it was the fact that he was scoring important goals. Another example of his ability to score important goals was his winning goal in the FA Cup final against Chelsea.

I argue that due to his impressive form, Semenyo is keeping Phil Foden out of the side, or at least part of the reason why Phil Foden has not played as much this term.

Given his goals, someone like Erling Haaland will most likely win the top prize, but a shout-out is definitely needed for Semenyo. The other player who has made a similar impact, if not more, is Igor Thiago

Although an argument can be made for Brentford’s Brazilian goal-scoring sensation as the player of the year, the fact that Antoine Semenyo has gone to a (no disrespect, Brentford) big club and picked up where he left off is an achievement.

Manchester City will be hoping he can carry his good form through till the end of the season.
