The BetMGM Premier League is drawing closer to the penultimate stage as Night 12 becomes the point where every match and win is crucial.
Gian van Veen started things off in the Liverpool Arena with a 6-4 win over Gerwyn Price, winning his sixth leg at the right time as the Welshman was teasing a comeback.
Jonny Clayton was victorious on the deciding leg against Stephen Bunting as a 25 checkout was simple enough for ‘The Ferret’ to progress.
Michael van Gerwen secured a 6-3 win over Josh Rock as his darting average and checkout accuracy proved to be the key for his victory.
The reigning champion has put himself in a worrying position as Luke Littler was able to conquer Luke Humphries 6-2 as ‘Cool Hand’ sits in sixth place and has yet to have won a night.
In the semi-final, Clayton’s checkout accuracy proved to be pivotal as once again, he was involved in a deciding leg where he became triumphant with a 6-5 win against ‘The Giant’.
‘The Green Machine’ and ‘The Nuke’ had a thrilling 11-leg contest as their averages and checkouts were large and accurate, but it was Littler who prevailed with a 6-5 victory.
The final witnessed the most comfortable win as Littler cruised his way to victory by defeating Clayton 6-1 to earn his fourth night of the competition.
In the Premier League standings, the 51-year-old Welshman remains at the top, but the Warrington darts player has cut the gap from second place to just three points.
