Hello, good afternoon sports fans, I hope you’re well and in good health. We need to talk about my absence. I hope you’re well, looking after yourselves and in good health.
In short, ladies and gentlemen, life got in the way. Sadly, my aunt passed away after losing her battle with cancer. Now, she wasn’t just my aunt; she was someone who really supported me in my media career.
When I was working on British Muslim TV, talking about sports, my aunt would enthusiastically watch me and give me encouragement; it meant a lot, even if it might not sound like it.
She would put it on the sky record diary weeks in advance, to remind her that this week is my show. The effort for the cause was appreciated then, and even more so now.
I started a job in security, which will be my priority for now, and that’s another reason I haven’t been writing of late.
This article has been in the making for the past few days. It’s been written now, because the longer I hold off doing it, the longer it was going to take me to do this, if ever. My aunt was strong-minded, and I am carrying this on for a different purpose.
I want to carry on and do her proud, the same way I want to do my daughter proud. I will miss you, Auntie. Thank you for being you.
