Most Valuable Promotions may just contest with most UFC events during May as Netflix prepares to showcase its first MMA event.

Some big legends are returning to the sport and feature in what will be an eye-catching fight card for Combat Sports fans.

The event takes place at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles, California and so far three five-round bouts have been announced which has excited and shocked the MMA community.

Here are the upcoming battles which have been announced for Netflix’s first MMA event which will be broadcasted on 16th May.

Ronday Rousey vs Gina Carano

Two of the most influential female fighters in Mixed Martial Arts go head-to-head as a former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion takes on the former ‘face of women’s MMA’.

Rousey has not competed since December 2016 where she suffered a first-round TKO loss to Amanda Nunes at UFC 207, making it almost 10 years since she last stepped in the Octagon.

After her retirement, the California-born fighter moved to professional wrestling where she made a name for herself in WWE before recently making an appearance in AEW.

The 39-year-old was undefeated before her surprising first defeat in November 2015, conjuring up 12 victories which all ended with a stoppage as ‘Rowdy’ has a 100% finish rate which consists of three knockouts and nine submissions.

Carano has not stepped into a MMA cage since August 2009 where she received her first and only loss of her career against Cris Cyborg in Strikeforce.

Since Dallas-born mixed martial artist moved away from her sporting career, she pursued as an actress and featured in recognised movies and TV shows such as Fast and Furious Six, Deadpool and The Mandalorian.

‘Conviction’ has had a total of eight professional bouts, earning seven wins with three ending by KO/TKO and just one by submission as the 43-year-old aims return to winning ways after just less than a 17-year layoff.

Francis Ngannou vs Philipe Lins

A heavyweight battle which features one of the most recognised knockout artists in Combat Sports, perhaps taking on an underwhelming opponent who could provide a big shock.

Ngannou last fought in MMA in October 2024 where he made his PFL debut, after parting ways with the UFC in 2023, securing a first-round TKO win over Renan Ferreira.

The former UFC Heavyweight Champion competed in two boxing matches prior to his MMA return, coming up short against Tyson Fury before a devastating knockout loss to Anthony Joshua.

‘The Predator’ has only conquered one opponent by a decision with the rest of his 17 victories ending with a finish, 13 by knockout and four by submission.

Lins was last in action in March 2024 where he increased a win streak to four after beating Ion Cutelaba by unanimous decision at UFC 299, before the UFC decided to not renew his contract.

‘Monstro’ has fought on the three biggest MMA promotions, earning at least three wins in each organisation which included the UFC, PFL and Bellator MMA.

The Brazilian has 13 finishes from 18 wins in his professional career as he holds nine knockouts and four submissions, but with four knockout losses on his record it will be a sign of worry for the 40-year-old.

Nate Diaz vs Mike Perry

Two of the biggest fan-favourites in Combat Sports face off in the Octagon and will plan on giving one of the most entertaining fights of 2025.

Diaz las competed in MMA back in September 2022 where he bounced back with a fourth-round submission victory against Tony Ferguson at UFC 279.

The 40-year-old then featured in two boxing matches where he lost by unanimous decision against Jake Paul in August 2023, before redeeming himself with a unanimous decision win in July 2024 against familiar for Jorge Masvidal.

The Stockton fighter has had non-stop wars in the Octagon and 18 of his 22 triumphs in his career have ended with a stoppage, four by KO/TKO and 14 by submission.

Perry will have not fought in five years when it comes to his upcoming battle as the last time he did was in April 2021, losing to Daniel Rodriguez by unanimous decision at UFC Vegas 23.

The 34-year-old made a bigger name for himself he entered the world of Bare Knuckle Boxing, becoming the most recognised fighter in BKFC and pulling off wins over Luke Rockhold, Eddie Alvarez and Jeremy Stephens.

‘Platinum’ is another warrior who rarely goes the distance when he is victorious after 11 of his 14 contests in MMA have ended by knockout.
