Good afternoon, sports fans. I hope you’re well and in good health. I am sure you remember that we have been looking at the Scottish Premiership table in recent weeks. You will also remember us saying that this season’s Scottish Premier League title race has been one of the best title races in years.
For all my time, keeping an observant eye on Scottish football, I have never seen a three-horse race, until this season. Edinburgh side Hearts lead the way, with the two Glasgow giants Celtic and Rangers in second and third, respectively.
After last week’s results, I felt that, as good as the title race has been, Rangers losing ground by drawing with Celtic means the gap is insurmountable. But if there is one thing we can learn from this season, just when you think it’s over, it’s far from it.
League leaders Hearts lost to Kilmarnock, and that opened up the chance for the two Glasgow giants to pounce on this slip-up, which they did. Celtic beat Motherwell 3-1, and Rangers edged out St Mirren 1-0, respectively.
So the League table now sees Hearts leading the way with 63 points, Celtic two points behind on 61, and Rangers one point back on 60. To really emphasise the point of how tight things are, Hearts and Rangers have both scored 52 goals and conceded 25. How’s that for drama for you?
