The most unpredictable league in English football was full of action as every team played twice this week as the end of the season is gradually on the horizon.

It all began on Tuesday night at the Racecourse Ground where Wrexham hosted fellow play-off contenders Hull City.

‘The Tigers’ earned a huge three points away from home with a 2-1 win which included a fantastic free-kick goal and a penalty miss from Joe Gelhardt.

Sheffield Wednesday came close to their second triumph of the season, but Vivaldo Semedo denied that from happening as he scored in the 90th minute to end the match at 1-1.

Leicester City ended their 11-game winless run with a 2-0 victory over Bristol City to keep their survival hopes alive in the relegation battle.

Swansea City held on to their lead and defeated Portsmouth 2-1 at Fratton Park thanks to first-half goals from Ethan Galbraith and Joshua Key.

Josh Coburn’s only goal gave Millwall a 1-0 win against Derby County as The Lions are on quest for a place in the top two.

Ipswich Town made an incredible turn-around, coming from two goals down to lead 3-2, until Milan Smit scored a 96th minute equaliser from the penalty spot to draw 3-3 and rescue Stoke City a point.

On Wednesday night, Jamie Donley scored a vital goal to give Oxford United a 1-0 win at home against fellow relegation battlers Blackburn Rovers.

West Brom were denied three points in the 91st minute as Cyle Larin saved Southampton a point in a 1-1 draw away at the Hawthorns.

Conor Coady was the hero in Charlton Athletic’s remarkable 1-0 away win against Middlesbrough which was the biggest shock of the mid-week action.

Norwich City came from behind to defeat Sheffield United 2-1 as Philippe Clement’s side continue to rise up the table.

Birmingham City kept a 1-0 lead throughout the entire game when Patrick Roberts scored in the sixth minute, giving The Blues three points against Queens Park Rangers.

Coventry City comfortably defeated Preston North End 3-0 in home territory as they extended their points gap at the top of the Championship.

On Friday night, Wrexham returned to winning ways with a crucial 2-0 win against Welsh rivals Swansea City, keeping their spot in the top six.

Moving on to Saturday, Middlesbrough were so close to three points at the Riverside Stadium, but Adam Randell scored a 96th minute equaliser to end the game at 1-1.

Southampton claimed a crucial win away against the league leaders Coventry City, winning 2-1 and pushing themselves closer to a play-off place.

Charlie Kelman’s 93rd minute penalty cancelled out Cameron Brannagan’s penalty early on in the second half as Oxford United drew 1-1 with Charlton Athletic.

Queens Park Rangers ended their four-game losing streak with a comfortable 3-1 win against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium.

Zak Sturge’s red card proved to be costly as Millwall suffered a 2-1 defeat to Blackburn Rovers after going down to 10 men as Mathias Jorgensen scored a brace within five minutes.

Ipswich Town left it rather late but they secured a 2-0 win away against Sheffield Wednesday to pull themselves closer to an automatic spot.

Ali Ahmed and Kenny McLean’s goals in the first half were enough for Norwich City to defeat Preston North End 2-0, making it four successive wins for ‘The Canaries’.

Million Manhoef scored a brace in Stoke City’s 3-1 win over Watford as both teams sit mid-table in the Championship.

West Brom took advantage of 10-man Hull City to win 3-0 in a huge boost to escape the relegation zone, despite being one point away from danger.

Birmingham City could only draw 1-1 against 10-man Sheffield United as Femi Serki’s red card in the 23-rd minute proved to not be a big problem.

Portsmouth are set to play Derby County at Fratton Park which kicks off on Monday night.
